With the winter months moving in, who can be blamed for needing a bit of a pick-me-up? While an everyday cocktail will certainly warm you up, occasionally you’ve go to do something extreme, like drink chilli.
While chilli-infused vodka certainly isn’t uncommon, here at Cocktail Revolution we reckon you can get a little more creative than that. Infusions are actually really easy to make, though they do take a little time.
For our Blood Cherry Blossom – a refreshing cocktail that’s both sweet and spicy – we’ll need a chilli-infused tequila. To make it, place a small habanero or jalepeño chilli into a bottle of tequila. If you like quite a bit of kick, add another, but we recommend a more subtle flavour.
Shake the bottle before storing it somewhere dark and cool for a few days. During the infusion process, give the bottle a mix a few times a day. After three days, your chilli tequila will be ready to go.
Once you’ve prepared your chilli infusion, pour some into an ice filled shaker with lemon juice and a dash of cherry liqueur. Shake it, then strain the ingredients into a highball glass and top it off with half Schweppes Agrum Blood Orange and half sparkling wine, with a lemon wedge for garnish.
