The Sazerac

This classic New Orleans cocktail is a must try.


  • Whisky glass


  • Absinthe
  • 60ml Rye of Bourbon blended whiskey
  • 3-4 hearty dashes of Peychaud’s Bitters
  • 2 dashes Angostura Bitters
  • One long, thin twist of lemon
  • Schweppes Soda Water


  1. Pour Absinthe into a chilled glass.
  2. Swill the Absinthe to coat the class, discarding any excess, and set aside.
  3. In a mixing glass, muddle the sugar cube and both bitters.
  4. Add the Rye Whiskey and fill with ice.
  5. Shake for 30 seconds and strain into your prepared glass.
  6. Twist the lemon peel over the surface to extract the oils, then discard.
  7. Top with a dash of Schweppes Soda Water
